This full-time exempt faculty position is responsible for teaching courses related to Computer Information Technology.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized instruction in all phases of the Computer Information Technology program.
  • Administer the College’s computer networks, including maintenance of the local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Email and Internet systems.
  • Coordinate curriculum updates, student record keeping, and industry and student recruitment.
  • Handle placement and follow-up of program graduates and manage program budgeting.
  • Maintain and upgrade software and computer equipment.
  • Investigate and resolve computer software and hardware problems for users.
  • Install and perform repairs to hardware, software, and peripheral equipment following design or installation specifications.
  • Answer staff and customer inquiries regarding computer hardware and software use, including printing, word-processing, email, Internet, and operating systems.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to systems users.
  • Serve on college committees and represent the college at community events.
  • Perform related work and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Technical diploma in instructional area or equivalent higher education with credentials in a related field. Equivalent relevant full-time experience in the field may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in the Computer Information Technology field within the last five years.
  • High degree of knowledge in network administration, PC hardware, systems analysis, and software.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher and interact with high school and adult students.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+ certifications and Microsoft certifications preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or post-secondary diploma/A.A.S. in computer information or a related field.
  • Prior teaching experience or evidence of ability to teach students.

Skills

  • Knowledge of college policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Understanding of FERPA, Title VII, Title IX, ADA, and other applicable laws pertaining to employment and education.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement assigned responsibilities under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and planning skills.
  • Ability to work as a team member and adjust to change.
  • Ability to handle confidential material judiciously.
  • Understanding of education programs and resources related to technical colleges.

Physical Demands

Physically able to lift, stoop, stand, and walk to demonstrate and perform all job duties required.

Pay

Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and education, following guidelines established by the Tennessee Board of Regents. The Associate Instructor grade has a minimum to midpoint salary range of $51,149 to $61,379.
