Associate Industrial Hygienist
Responsibilities
- Manage programs related to the anticipation, evaluation and control of exposures to chemicals and physical agents in the work environment
- Write technical reports and provide recommendations as necessary
- Maintain site records in site IH database for exposure assessments and ergonomic evaluations
- Evaluate PPE needs for assigned Divisions
- Ergonomic evaluations for office and industrial settings
- Conduct periodic noise monitoring to include area and dosimetry
- Perform New Chemical Reviews for health concerns
- Review and update IH written programs and policies
- Create and execute studies to monitor and assess employees’ exposure to health risks; measure effectiveness of occupational health programs, policies and procedures
- Evaluate the impact of emerging regulations to company operations
- Qualitatively assess exposure potential for physical and chemical health hazards
- Conduct indoor air quality assessments
- Implement and assess Industrial Hygiene programs that provide consistent approaches to risk reduction and compliance
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Industrial Hygiene or related technical discipline highly preferred
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification preferred but not required
- 3+ years of industrial hygiene experience required
- Valid driver’s license required
- Proficient knowledge of OSHA requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent computer skills
- Proficient organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks
- Critical reasoning with the ability to evaluate the effectiveness of safety systems
- Good analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to make critical decisions on safe practices and use of correct personal protective equipment for site employees
- Complex decision-making with the ability to make safe decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Independent judgement with the ability to work independently to assess situations and formulate plans
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Ability to climb ladders and stand for periods of time
- Must understand and follow all applicable safety requirements and expectations
