Associate Geotechnical Engineer

About the role
In this role, you will work with multi-discipline teams to develop design materials for heavy civil works projects such as generation, power infrastructure (transmission, distribution, substations), solar, wind, dams, buried infrastructure, and tunnels. You will perform analysis, design calculations, design sketches, and prepare geotechnical design reports to meet project requirements. Additionally, you will coordinate and manage geotechnical field investigations and construction activities such as grouting, ground improvement, deep foundations, and retaining walls.
As part of BV Operations, your skills will be aligned to projects supporting our three market sectors: Governments & Environment, Energy & Process Industries, and Connectivity & Commercial. You will engage with exciting projects globally, from small community improvements to large-scale mega projects.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate internal teams and resources while understanding client needs and interests.
- Develop structural technical specifications, plans, and details for projects such as power generation facilities, substations, transmission lines, solar sites, dams, canals, flood control projects, municipal water, wastewater, and pipelines.
- Plan, design, and oversee geotechnical aspects for projects both in the office and in the field.
- Travel on field assignments as required (estimated at 20-40% field time).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program.
- Minimum of 1 year of related work experience.
- Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, including criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with geotechnical investigations, grouting, ground improvement, deep foundations, and retaining walls.
- Master's Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Active Engineering-In-Training (EIT) certification.
Work Environment

- Typical office environment, construction sites, extreme weather conditions, high noise levels, safety hazards (electric currents, working on scaffolding, exposure to chemicals), and atmospheric conditions (fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation).
- Physical demands include sitting, walking, talking, hearing, reading, writing, keyboarding, driving, filing, reaching, stooping, crouching, bending, standing for extended periods, and lifting or carrying up to 40 pounds.
