Associate General Counsel - Transactions

Responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate corporate transaction agreements such as acquisitions and joint ventures
• Provide legal counsel to AEP operating companies regarding transaction legal requirements and risk
• Oversee a team responsible for structuring and closing M&A and commercial deals
• Manage outside counsel, including budgeting and performance monitoring
• Cook up with tax, accounting, and regulatory stakeholders to manage legal risks in complex transactions
• Monitor industry regulations and developments to guide business practices

Qualifications

• J.D. degree with eligibility to practice in Ohio
• Minimum 10 years of experience as a transactional attorney, preferably in a law firm or corporate legal department
• Demonstrated experience in structuring, negotiating, and closing corporate transactions
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Big picture oriented with strong attention to detail
