Associate General Counsel Labor and Employment
Responsibilities
- Examine facts, identify legal risks and recommend the best solutions to Schneider leaders.
- Formulate and test hypotheses drawn from limited evidence and speculation to identify and recommend solutions.
- Monitor matters with legal implications for consistency with company and operating guidelines.
- Simplify and appropriately communicate legal matters and analyses to business leaders.
- Work with various departments to facilitate compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Draft and negotiate business contracts, such as carrier transportation and logistics contracts, cross-border contracts, computer software contracts, etc.
- Absorb and respond to administrative agency charges related to employment and labor law.
- Research and track updates to traditional labor and employment laws.
- Collaborate with experienced practitioners both inside and outside the organization on employment and labor law issues.
- Engage in meaningful contact with executive and senior leadership, providing legal advice and defending the employer under federal and state employment laws.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree.
- Admission to practice law in Wisconsin.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience as a practicing lawyer.
- Prior in-house experience is preferred.
- Background in transportation, human resources, finance, accounting, or a heavily regulated industry is preferred.
- Able to plan, organize, and prioritize a wide variety of tasks at once.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to meet tight deadlines while working in a fast-paced environment.
