Associate General Counsel

The position will be part of the General Counsel’s Office team and is based out of the St. Paul office. This position is telework eligible; staff are provided with the tools and equipment to be successful in a virtual work environment. The telework policy could change with notice based on business needs. This posting may be used to fill multiple positions.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the Department’s prevailing wage activities and requirements.
- Serve as the Department’s Data Practices Official and lead data practices activities including assisting with privacy and security incident analysis.
- Conduct legal research, writing, and analysis and provide legal advice to the Department.
- Provide the Department with legal expertise to support compliance with state and federal laws.
- Assist with coordinating the Department’s litigation and collaborating with other staff concerning implementation of legal policies and best practices.
Requirements

- Three (3) years of legal experience as a practicing attorney. Experiences must include conducting legal research, writing and analysis, and providing legal advice to senior management and/or executives.
- Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in Minnesota and current with continuing legal education requirements.
- Experience in one (1) or more areas of laws related to the position: the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act; government grants/contracts/acquisitions; civil litigation; and/or closely related field as determined by the hiring agency.
