RemoteRemoteLegal$245k–$275k/yrFull-time
We need to output HTML fragment with sections: About the role? Actually we have Company Description, Role Description, Responsibilities, Requirements, Benefits, Compensation Range (Pay). Also maybe "More about Givebutter Benefits" is benefits. Also "Interview Process" and other boilerplate should be removed. Also "Compensation Range: $245K - $275K" is pay. We must not repeat job title as heading. Use

for section headings: About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule. We need to decide which sections we have content for. We have Company Description (maybe "About the role"? Actually "Company Description" could be considered "About the role"? The instruction: use

for section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule). So we can have "About the role" heading containing company description and role description? Probably combine. We have Responsibilities list. We have Requirements list. We have Benefits list. We have Pay (Compensation Range). We have no Schedule info, so omit. We have no Qualifications separate from Requirements; maybe we can treat Requirements as qualifications. But we can still have Requirements heading. We have no Skills separate; maybe we can omit. We must not emit headings with filler. So include only sections with real content. Thus sections: About the role (company description + role description), Responsibilities, Requirements, Benefits, Pay. We need to use
  • for any list of duties/requirements/benefits. For prose use

. We must preserve all substantive information; do not invent or summarize away detail. So we need to include all details from company description, role description, responsibilities, requirements, benefits, compensation. We must remove boilerplate: cookie/navigation/legal/EEO/equal-opportunity/scam-warning, duplicated lines, application instructions. Also remove Interview Process, "Hi potential new butterslice!" etc, the LinkedIn study note, etc. Also remove "More about Givebutter Benefits" heading? Actually that is part of benefits; we can keep benefits content but remove the heading. We need to ensure we don't include "Interview Process" etc. Let's extract content. Company Description paragraph: "Givebutter is the most-loved nonprofit fundraising and CRM platform, empowering millions of changemakers to raise more, pay less, and give better. Nonprofits use Givebutter to replace multiple tools so they can launch fundraisers and events, use donation forms and donor management (CRM), send emails and text blasts—all in one place. Use of the Givebutter platform is completely free with a 100% transparent tip-or-fee model. Givebutter has been certified as a Great Place to Work® every year since 2021, and is the #1 rated nonprofit software company on G2 across multiple categories. Our mission is to empower the changemaker in all of us. We believe giving should be fun, so you’ll want to do it again, and we also believe that work should be fun, so that you’ll have the greatest impact. We are excited to hear from talented people who want to work with other talented people in making the world a butter place—and have fun along the way." Role Description paragraph(s): "Givebutter is hiring an Associate General Counsel to lead Givebutter's in-house legal function across corporate governance, intellectual property, intellectual property, risk management, and employment. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will own the legal work that protects Givebutter's foundation: how the company governs itself, how it protects what it owns, how it manages risk, and how it supports its people. This is a hands-on role at a payments-enabled fundraising platform in a regulated space, and we are building a function that handles that work internally rather than routing it out. With one direct report, the Commercial & Product Counsel, you will build a lean legal team that enables Givebutter to move fast without taking on risks it does not understand." Then "We Want To Hear From People Who…" bullet list (but that's more like qualifications). Actually that list is part of requirements/qualities. We'll incorporate into Requirements maybe. But we have a separate Requirements section later with bullet points. We need to preserve all substantive information; we can combine the "We Want To Hear From People Who…" into Requirements or maybe as part of Requirements. Since we have a Requirements heading, we can include those bullet points there as well. Let's list the "We Want To Hear From People Who…" items: - Bring sound legal judgment to complex, ambiguous situations and find practical ways to manage risk while helping Givebutter grow. - Communicate clearly and confidently with executives and the Board, turning complex legal issues into guidance people can act on. - Build trusted relationships across People, Finance, Product, Design, Engineering, and other teams, working proactively to help solve business challenges. - Know how to protect intellectual property, lead corporate governance, and advise the Board on its responsibilities. - Understand how to assess business-wide legal risks, develop practical mitigation strategies, and manage insurance coverage with the company’s needs in mind. - Build legal processes, policies, and playbooks that scale, and use technology and AI thoughtfully to help a lean team accomplish more. These are essentially requirements/qualifications. Then the formal Requirements list: - J.D. from an accredited law school - Active bar membership in good standing in your state of residence and/or California, New York, or Texas - 8–12 years of legal experience, with a meaningful combination of top-tier law firm training and in-house experience at a technology or fintech company - Demonstrated expertise in corporate governance, intellectual property management, and employment law - Strong executive presence; proven ability to advise senior leadership and boards with clarity, confidence, and sound judgment - Experience managing commercial insurance programs and advising on enterprise risk - Demonstrated experience navigating complex, differing state-by-state regulations and translating them into practical business guidance and compliance processes. - Fluency with AI tools in a professional context; uses AI to improve productivity and has informed opinions about responsible deployment - Excellent written and verbal communication; translates complex legal issues into plain language for non-legal stakeholders - Ability to operate independently with high autonomy in a fast-paced, high-growth environment We should combine both sets under Requirements (maybe as a single list). Ensure we don't duplicate. Now Responsibilities list: - Own all corporate and board governance activities, including board minutes and resolutions, entity management, equity matters, annual filings, and regulatory reporting. - Serve as the primary legal advisor to executive leadership, and Board of Directors on governance best practices and fiduciary obligations. - Manage and protect Givebutter's intellectual property portfolio, including trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. - Lead IP strategy, advise teams on IP considerations in product development and marketing, and enforce Givebutter's rights against infringement. - Own Givebutter's insurance program, including D&O, cyber liability, E&O, and general liability coverage. - Manage annual renewals, conduct coverage adequacy reviews, coordinate claims, and advise leadership on risk-transfer strategy. - Lead Givebutter's internal AI governance framework in partnership with PDE, People leadership, and the Commercial & Product Counsel. - Develop and maintain policies for responsible AI use, monitor regulatory developments in AI law, and ensure Givebutter's adoption of AI tools is legally sound and ethically grounded. - Serve as the primary legal advisor to the People team on employment law matters, including hiring practices, compensation and benefits, employee relations, workplace investigations, performance management, separations, and policy development. - Draft and review employment agreements, offer letters, separation documentation, and related materials. - Monitor and advise on legislative and regulatory developments that affect Givebutter's business, including nonprofit law, charitable solicitation regulations, and state-level fundraising platform requirements (e.g., CA AB 488). - Partner with the Sr. IT Compliance Manager on regulatory filings, licensing, and compliance matters. - Assess and mitigate enterprise legal risk across key business decisions, M&A activity, and strategic initiatives. - Engage outside counsel selectively, where specialized expertise genuinely requires it, and manage those engagements to scope and budget. - Lead or support special projects involving dispute resolution, corporate transactions, and other legal priorities. - Manage and develop the Commercial & Product Counsel, setting clear priorities, providing coaching, and overseeing their work. - Lead the development and maintenance of scalable legal processes, policies, playbooks, and templates across the legal function. - Use AI-enabled tools to improve legal research, workflow efficiency, and knowledge management. - Bring legal work in-house. Take ownership of matters currently routed to outside firms, set clear thresholds for when external counsel is engaged, manage outside counsel scope and spend, and build the templates, playbooks, and internal knowledge that keep routine matters from leaving the building. Feel good about the work you're doing and the company you work for. Note: Some items are sentences; we can keep as list items. Pay: Compensation Range: $245K - $275K. We should not include schedule. Now we need to output HTML fragment with

    headings and

    for prose,

    • for lists. We need to decide what goes into About the role section: combine company description and role description into prose paragraphs. Could be two

elements. We must not repeat job title as heading. So we won't. We must not include Job ID/requisition numbers. We must not include boilerplate like "Interview Process", "Hi potential new butterslice!", LinkedIn study note, etc. We must not include "More about Givebutter Benefits" heading; we just list benefits. Now produce HTML. Structure:
