The Role

The Associate Formulations Scientist will be responsible for preparing prototype formulations and conducting various tests to assess their properties and stability.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare prototype formulations for exploratory studies in in-vitro and in-vivo models
  • Develop oral, topical, and intravenous (sterile) dosage forms for feasibility studies and small scale manufacturing operations
  • Measure key active compound and formulation properties
  • Assess the chemical and physical stability of prototype formulations using in-vitro tests
  • Identify potential stability and performance issues with prototype formulations
  • Develop protocols for preparation of formulations at preclinical and clinical study sites

Requirements

  • Experience with drug formulation and pre-formulation techniques, and an understanding of drug candidate properties
  • Experience with amorphous solid dispersions (spray dried dispersions or hot melt extrusion) and modified release tablet design
  • Basic chemistry (wet or solid state) laboratory experience
  • Experience working with laboratory equipment, mechanically inclined
  • Experience with more advanced characterization techniques such as Raman, thermal analysis, and dissolution
  • Ability to follow procedures reliably and consistently
  • Strong computer and organizational skills
  • Adept in Microsoft Office
  • Mathematical or Mechanistic Modeling
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivated, adaptable, and a positive attitude
  • Ability to learn new techniques, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies
