Associate Faculty - Aviation Maintenance
About the role
This position is responsible for preparing and teaching courses in Aviation Maintenance. This position reports to the Dean of Workforce Education as well as other faculty and staff.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and teach assigned Fall Quarter Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) General courses in accordance with the approved FAA curriculum, FAA regulations, and program requirements, in consultation with the full-time program faculty.
- Meet the class times as required by the quarterly schedule, in the required instructional modality.
- Aid students with questions related to the course(s) being taught.
- Maintain frequent communication with students.
- Refer students to appropriate college resources as needed.
- Maintain and submit grades and attendance reports to college personnel when required.
- Submit assessment data in consultation with a full-time faculty member in the department.
- Assist with development, selection, and/or recommend the selection of instructional materials for courses being taught.
- Schedule and hold a minimum of one office hour per week; online or face-to-face.
- Maintain an educational environment that promotes student learning and success.
Requirements
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate
- Three (3) years or recent professional aviation maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of aviation industry experience and postsecondary teaching experience.
- Demonstrate knowledge of current aviation maintenance practices, FAA regulations, and industry standards.
- Experience working effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and ability backgrounds.
Qualifications
- Experience teaching in an FAA Part 147 Aviation Maintenance Technician School.
- Experience teaching at a community or technical college.
- Experience implementing innovative teaching, training, and student engagement strategies that improve student success and retention.
- Experience with online learning, hybrid instruction, video conferencing, Canvas, or other Learning Management Systems.
- Inspection Authorization (IA) certification.
- Experience with FAA regulatory compliance, accreditation, or aviation training program management.
- Experience working with non-traditional students.

- Ability to maintain accurate records and report grades.
- Ability to develop and implement effective teaching strategies.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay
Associate Faculty receive quarterly contracts. Payment is based on $987.71/lecture credit.
Schedule
The schedule for this position will be determined by the Dean of Workforce Education and the full-time program faculty.
