About the Role
Our Facilities Associates are critical team members responsible for maintaining two of our gyms in a given region while also assisting at other gyms as needed. They partner with the Director team to ensure gyms are in excellent condition, prioritize emergency repairs, and serve as the point of contact for larger capital projects and investments.
This position reports to the Assistant Facilities Director for the West and is based in our Sunnyvale and Santa Clara locations. Applicants must be available to work at all regional locations.
Responsibilities
- Meets bi-weekly with gym management to prioritize and plan for each gym.
- Performs general maintenance and manual repairs, including landscaping, painting, light carpentry, foam padding repairs, and replacement.
- Uses project management software (Asana) to manage tasks and communicate progress to Gym Directors/Assistant Directors.
- Coordinates with Facilities Service Providers for projects or repairs requiring trade skills (e.g., electrical, HVAC, plumbing).
- Maintains clear communication with the Regional Facilities Manager or Assistant Director.
- Coordinates monthly and annual maintenance calendars, prepares schedules, timelines, cost estimates, and staffing proposals, and executes approved plans.
- Works with the Regional Facilities Manager or Assistant Director to develop and implement maintenance procedures.
- Manages relationships with contractors and service providers (e.g., fitness equipment providers, pest control).
- Keeps maintenance logs, reports daily activities, and ensures directors are informed.
- Monitors equipment inventory, places orders, and seeks budget approval as needed.
- Supervises and occasionally performs Rope and Anchors checks.
- Ensures all work in gyms is performed safely and complies with safety requirements, including rope-access work for repairs and inspections.
- Responds to urgent maintenance needs per Movement Policy.
- Maintains an info log and contact details for frequent repair service providers (e.g., HVAC, Fire, Alarm).

- Maintaining all building systems and equipment in a fully functional state.
- Proactively identifying and addressing problems before they become critical.
- Effectively communicating facility project status to directors and stakeholders.
- Advocating for facility improvements.
Requirements
- Full-time hours with a flexible schedule (e.g., ability to work late nights, early mornings, and weekends as needed).
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while aligning with gym and director goals.
- Ability to safely use and supervise the use of power tools and ladders.
- Ability to track and report on project status.
- Organized, efficient, and able to meet deadlines.
- Ability to perform Rope Access work and comfort working on ropes at height (training available).
- Responds to emails and inquiries by the end of the business day.
- Proficiency in computer skills (Word, Excel, Asana).
- Ability to work on a ladder and lift 50 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to all regional gyms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience maintaining rock climbing walls and climbing safety equipment.
- Working knowledge of climbing gym floor and wall systems.
- Broad experience in facility maintenance, including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and finish work.
- Working knowledge of facilities machines, equipment, tools, and devices.

Pay
Base compensation for this role starts between $27 and $32 per hour.
