Responsibilities
- Champions a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Assists the Senior Analyst with day-to-day responsibilities including developing and updating forecasting models, maintaining current up-to-date information for identified companies, and monitoring domestic and global economic developments.
- Reviews daily news services for relevant information that impacts the macro, industry-specific, and company drivers.
- Communicates with company management to stay informed regarding events that may impact company performance.
- Drafts research reports communicating views regarding company-specific recommendations and providing commentary on a variety of economic developments.
- Works closely with the Senior Analyst in launching new company coverage and developing new industry and thematic research reports.
- Partners with other sector colleagues and analysts in the United States, Canada, and Latin America on industry and company reports as well as client and corporate events.
- Affords support to sales and trading personnel with investor communications.
- Facilitates company marketing efforts by coordinating meetings with industry and corporate contacts.
- Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Acts proactively to ensure operations are efficient and effective, adhering to Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, while ensuring adequate, compliant, and effective business controls.

Requirements
- A university degree is required, with a preference for business, economics, engineering, computer science/programming.
- FINRA SIE, S-63, S-86, and S-87 designations are required.
- Strong accounting, financial modeling, and analytical skills are required.
- Excellent command of Microsoft Suite, with a particular emphasis on Excel is required.
- Work experience in a financial, engineering, or analytical capacity in computer science/programming field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Capital Markets knowledge/experience would be an asset.
- Experience using Bloomberg, FactSet, and AI tools would be an asset.
- A P.Eng, MBA, CPA/CA designation, or enrollment in/completion of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program is an asset.
- Good business judgment and decision-making skills.
- Ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines, sometimes for extended periods of time.
- Ability to multi-task and manage several ongoing projects at the same time.
- Energetic, self-motivated, hardworking, one-firm-minded, and detail-oriented.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates must have a university degree, preferably in business, economics, engineering, or computer science/programming. FINRA SIE, S-63, S-86, and S-87 designations are required.
