Associate, Equity Derivatives Sales

About the role

The Institutional Equity Derivatives Sales Team is seeking a financial professional to work in a team environment, learning and building a business in Equity Derivatives. The role focuses on institutional investors, with a current emphasis on Insurance Companies (Super Vertical) and Asset Managers, and potential expansion to Pensions, Endowments, Foundations, and Hedge Funds. Products traded include over-the-counter Equity Options, Swaps, and Equity Linked Notes.

Initially, the team member will assist by:

• Formatting client pricing requests into BMO standard form (RFPs).
• Generating summary deal terms upon transaction completion (Executions).
• Creating reports and term sheets to summarize deals for clients.
• Researching client positions and strategies using publicly available information.
• Interacting with clients during pricing and execution of transactions.

After gaining proficiency with products and pricing processes, the team member will work more directly with clients on day-to-day hedging needs.

Responsibilities

• Format client pricing requests into BMO standard form (RFPs).
• Generate summary deal terms and reports upon transaction completion.
• Create term sheets summarizing deals for clients.
• Research client positions and strategies using publicly available information.
• Interact with clients during pricing and execution of transactions.
• Work directly with clients on hedging needs after mastering products and pricing.

Requirements

• Typically 3–5 years of relevant experience.
• Post-secondary degree in a related field (e.g., Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Working knowledge of financial markets, with exposure to financial markets and/or analysis through work or education.
• Basic understanding of trading or sales procedures and broader regulatory and financial concepts.
• Series 7 and 63 licenses required or must be attained within 3 months.
• Solid deal/transaction execution and/or project management skills.
• Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $150,000 to $200,000 USD, subject to the candidate’s skills, experience, education, and qualifications. This is a salaried position and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on hours worked. For commission roles, the listed salary represents BMO’s expected target for the first year. Total compensation may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, and other perks and rewards.
