About the role
This position supports new product development and standard product engineering by building prototypes and conducting product performance and qualification testing.
Responsibilities
- Build up test prototypes
- Develop new test procedures for corporate use
- Make test set-ups
- Collect test data and monitor long term tests
- Report test results, including completing lab test request forms and writing formal reports when necessary
- Participate in lab maintenance and housekeeping activities
- Participate in quality improvement activities
- Take initiative to improve technical proficiency
- Interpret test results and suggest and implement corrective action when appropriate
- Outline procedures to be included in the instruction manual on new products
- Design and construct test fixtures
- Plan tests with minimal input, including working to industry-standard test procedures
- Coordinate/plan/schedule test facilities with other technicians and departments
- Follow up on off-site testing including visits to customer sites as directed
- Specify and obtain lab equipment and facilities
Requirements
- 2-year technical degree or equivalent
- Demonstrated ability to set up all tests with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated ability to develop test procedures and plans
- Demonstrated ability to initiate corrective action based on sound interpretation of test results
- Excellent mechanical and/or electrical aptitude
- Knowledge of general lab practices and equipment
- Demonstrated ability to work with computers, data acquisition equipment, lab instrumentation, and shop tools
- Demonstrated excellent oral and written communications skills
- Familiarity with lab instrumentation

Pay
The base pay range for this position is $18.46 - $32.26 per hour, exclusive of fringe benefits or other compensation.
