Associate Engineer II Salary Range: $73,770 - $103,279

About the role

The City of Casper is looking for motivated and detail-oriented civil engineers to join our Engineering Department. As an Associate Engineer, you'll support public improvement projects that make a lasting impact on the community, from developing construction cost estimates to reviewing private development plans and inspecting ongoing projects.

Responsibilities

• Assists with the development of construction project cost estimates
• Prepares requests for proposals and project plans/specifications
• Reviews consultant/contractor proposals and recommends selection of consultants/contractors
• Inspects construction and field reviews in progress to determine compliance with designs and initiates change orders
• Reviews permit requests, plans, specifications, and contract documents from private developers to determine compliance with codes, ordinances, and laws
• Maintains records of activities and prepares financial and operational reports
• Represents the City of Casper by responding to the public, citizens, employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level

Requirements

Associate Engineer I Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering or a closely related field
• No previous experience required
• Valid Wyoming Driver’s License is preferred
• Registration as an Engineer-In-Training with the State of Wyoming preferred

Associate Engineer II Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering or a closely related field
• Minimum of three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in professional engineering
• Valid Wyoming Driver’s License is preferred
• Valid Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Wyoming

Physical Requirements

Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Incumbents may be subjected to dusts, fumes, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, and intense noises. Incumbents require sufficient mobility to work in an office setting; stand and sit for prolonged periods of time; operate office equipment including use of a computer keyboard; ability to verbally communicate to exchange information; use of hands repetitively to operate, finger, handle, or feel office equipment and reach with hands and arms.
