About the role

The Associate Engineer (2nd Shift) is responsible for conducting testing in support of HVAC product evaluation. Duties range from setting up the equipment under test (EUT) to conducting and reporting test results. This position requires up to 5% travel.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on and off-site evaluation of products to determine compliance with applicable standards under the guidance of a senior engineer.
  • Read and determine applicability of national codes and standards clauses for the EUT (equipment under test).
  • Read and understand schematics and manufacturing instructions.
  • Validate the project scope and sample applicability.
  • Identify and locate test instruments and equipment required for testing.
  • Follow established test plans, set up, and operate EUT; perform and document simple repairs on EUT as needed.
  • Conduct thorough construction reviews and document results.
  • Perform testing of products in accordance with standards; identify, set up, and operate standard test equipment.
  • Diagnose failures during tests and explore other testing options under the direction of senior engineering staff.
  • Ensure samples are logged into and out of the system following sample handling procedures.
  • Move equipment as needed through the facility and properly package samples for shipment.
  • Manage less complex projects utilizing available resources under the direction of a senior engineer.
  • Compile test results during construction review and testing; compile data and product descriptions to finalize reports using established report shells.
  • Submit reports to reviewers for final approval.
  • Communicate project status and test results to clients, sales personnel, and management throughout testing.
  • Provide ongoing support to clients as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience and training.
  • 1+ years of directly related experience.
  • Ability to work full-time, 2nd shift (Monday-Friday, 4:00 PM – 1:00 AM). Training will occur during 1st shift.
  • Ability to use basic shop equipment and various hand tools.
  • Ability to review, understand, and convey technical information effectively.
  • Strong common-sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions.
  • Detailed-oriented with effective prioritization, organization, and time management skills.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Customer-focused and quality-driven mindset.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods.
  • Adherence to safety practices and policies to ensure personal and team safety.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of direct experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Electrical/electronic experience or training.
  • Working knowledge of electrical circuit design/analysis principles.
  • Experience with product safety standards (ANSI, CSA, UL, EN, IEC, etc.).

Schedule

This position is scheduled to work 2nd shift (Monday-Friday, 4:00 PM – 1:00 AM). Training for the role will occur during 1st shift.
