About the role
At kW Mission Critical Engineering, a part of WSP USA, we design building infrastructure to ensure data centers remain operational 24/7. Our team collaborates across disciplines to develop drawings and specifications for projects ranging from large companies to the world.
Responsibilities
- Analyze complex power and other building systems including generator plants, medium voltage distribution, uninterruptible power systems, lighting, fire alarm, and grounding.
- Develop drawing and specification documents for issuance to architects, contractors, and building owners.
- Attend client meetings and collaborate with internal project discipline team members and equipment vendors and manufacturers.
- Design electrical systems for buildings including lighting, receptacle, general, essential, and critical electrical infrastructure.
- Select and schedule equipment and prepare calculations and specifications.
- Understand short circuit, coordination, and arc flash calculations.
- Perform construction administration tasks with assistance from senior staff.
- Survey and evaluate existing worksite conditions.
Requirements
- 1 to 3 years of relevant post-education experience in an electrical engineering capacity.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with electrical building systems emphasis.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, teamwork, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong interest in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, communicating and collaborating with internal and external design, client, and construction team members.
- Desire to travel.
Qualifications
- EIT License, or ability to obtain EIT.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
- Knowledge of building, electrical, and energy codes.
- Knowledge of SKM, eTap, or Cyme software.
- Previous building design or construction internship experience.

- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
