Associate Electrical Engineer - Data Center

About the role

Associate Project Engineer – Performs commissioning of electrical systems. Must be a self-motivated & energetic professional willing to learn electrical systems design, construction, and the commissioning process for systems of varying size, rating, and complexity. The candidate will review project information, execute daily field activities, maintain project documentation, and assist the Project Engineer. This role requires organizational skills, a positive attitude, adaptability, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Commission electrical distribution equipment and related controls, primarily in data center environments, including medium voltage systems.
• Assist with preparing plans and procedures for execution of the commissioning process.
• Conduct commissioning activities from the design phase through the occupation phase, in accordance with client requirements and industry best practices.
• Attend factory testing of equipment and document procedures and results.
• Conduct functional testing of equipment and measure results using test instrumentation.
• Fully document all field procedures, including results, issues, and observations, via company-provided templates or online applications.
• Comment on equipment and system performance.
• Assist with submitting and maintaining daily commissioning reports.
• Comply with company, client, and project safety requirements.
• Learn and perform basic functional tests on building equipment, including but not limited to:
  • Generator
  • Medium/Low Voltage Transformer (XFMR)
  • Battery Systems
  • Low Voltage Switchgear (SWGR)
  • Low Voltage Main Switchboards (MSB)
  • Automatic and Semi-Automatic Switching Controls
  • Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS)
  • Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS)
  • Power Distribution Unit (PDU)
  • Busways
  • Remote Power Panel (RPP)
  • Grounding Systems
  • Lighting Control Systems

Work Environment

Travel nationwide 50% - 80% if not assigned locally; may have periods of higher travel expectation.

Requirements

• AE/BSc in Electrical Engineering with less than one year of mission-critical project experience, or
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in commissioning with mission-critical project experience, or relevant and applicable industry experience.

Pay

$66,675 to $100,065 per year.
