Associate Electrical Design Engineer

About the role
This role involves the design and release of electrical and electronic components and systems for heavy commercial trucks. You will manage engineering and project management processes to maintain schedule, budget, and functionality, plan and track component validation, and support product launches at vehicle assembly plants. Responsibilities include ensuring industry-leading quality and reliability, providing interface documentation, and contributing to the development of procedures for high-quality electronic systems.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop assigned elements of wiring harnesses, routings, guides, system-level schematics, or embedded electronic control modules as part of a new product development team.
- Manage engineering and project management processes to maintain schedule, budget, and functionality.
- Plan and track validation of components.
- Support product launch at vehicle assembly plants.
- Ensure industry-leading quality and reliability are met, maintained, or exceeded for all components.
- Provide interface documentation to wiring design, system architects, and mechanical design groups.
- Contribute to the development of procedures and practices that ensure quality, reliable electronic systems.
- Create engineering documentation, including component and harness drawings, diagrams, routings, and respond to Requests for Engineering Information.
- Write Engineering Change Notices, coordinate testing, support production, and assist customer service.
Requirements
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent engineering degree required.
- 0-1+ years of design and release experience in automotive or commercial vehicle electrical systems or related industry background.
- Experience in the design and application of automotive wiring harnesses, electronic control modules, switches, driver input devices, and HMI elements.
- Experience in wiring design using Mentor Graphics.
- Knowledge of DC power distribution, management, protection, fusing, and routing systems, practices, and tools is desired.
- Proficiency using Requirements Management tools, Systems Engineering tools, Pro/E, or other 3D CAD software is desired.
- Engineering knowledge of heavy-duty commercial truck safety systems and regulations, particularly in operating, service, and performance environments.
- Solid understanding of Design for Six Sigma and Six Sigma techniques.
- Willingness to learn and use new engineering processes and techniques, and resourcefulness in solving complex technical problems.
- Experience in product development and new product implementation.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Proficiency with personal computer software, including project management tools, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Willingness to grow personally and professionally with a results-oriented mindset.

Pay
The salary range for an Associate Electrical Design Engineer is $70,500 - $105,800 annually. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift.
