About the role
Audience Engagement is a diverse collection of essential editors, programmers, and specialists responsible for the fan experience with editorial content and streams on virtually all of ESPN's digital offerings. This role involves training in sending editorial news alerts to the ESPN App and the ESPN Fantasy App, encompassing news, live events, written stories, highlights, and more. Responsibilities include making regular decisions about which audience will receive notifications, how to present the content, verifying accuracy, tone, and style, and maintaining speed to fans’ lock screens. Additionally, this role includes shifts programming the main news lane of the ESPN App or various fantasy index pages on both web and app.
This position is based in Bristol, CT, with a hybrid schedule of 4 days per week in the office and 1 day available for remote work.
Responsibilities
- Editing and maintenance for all of ESPN Mobile App's notifications and News programming.
- Daily assessment of content from a variety of sources (including wire services, partners, ESPN staffers, freelancers, plus interactive elements, social media, audio, and video) to determine how it fits into daily news coverage and programming needs.
- Evaluating all sport page copy and headlines, providing feedback on art and video, and packaging content to entice users to engage deeper with the app.
- Writing excellent headlines and presenting stories in tight spaces.
- Demonstrating good judgment in prioritizing online content for a national audience.
Requirements
- Experience in online media content preparation.
- Ability to work in a rapidly changing online environment with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Background in or ability to quickly become competent in HTML.
Qualifications
Required Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree in communication arts, journalism, or new media, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Pay
The hiring range for this position in Bristol, CT is $58,100.00 to $79,800.00 per year based on a 40-hour work week. The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
Schedule
Sports take place during nights, weekends, and holidays, and those shifts will be regular and required. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs.
