About the role

Valuation professionals at KPMG provide clients robust and informed guidance on valuation matters across multiple sectors, deal stages and business needs. We determine fair (market) value of equity shares, assets or complex financial instruments for mergers and acquisitions, financial reporting, tax and other regulatory standards. Our engagements include providing pre and post deal Purchase Price Allocations (PPA), Impairment Testing, employee or management incentive scheme valuations and recurring fund valuations.

Responsibilities

  • Use advanced financial engineering/numerical, mathematical, econometric and statistical techniques, including Monte Carlo simulation and lattice models, to perform and review valuations of complex financial instruments including contingent consideration, put/call deal structures, stock compensation, warrants, financial derivatives (equity, interest rate, commodity, CPI, credit), embedded derivatives, debt, loans, fixed interest securities, insurance contracts, convertible notes and other hybrid instruments
  • Effectively present, document, and support complex securities valuations to various stakeholders, including managers, clients, auditors and regulators
  • Develop, document and enhance models to be used by the complex securities practice to perform valuations
  • Understand, research and stay-current with authoritative guidance and industry best practices in the context of valuations for financial reporting, tax and litigation purposes
  • Contribute to the training of team members and go-to-market initiatives of the complex securities valuation practice
  • Build capabilities in key technologies that enable tax professionals for client service delivery such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, Power BI, and more

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing and have obtained by the start date or have completed the following degrees/majors in the past 12 months: an advanced (preferred) or Bachelor’s with a focus in Quantitative Finance, Financial Engineering, Mathematical Finance, Computational Finance, or equivalent program from an accredited college or university
  • Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science or data and analytics preferred
  • Familiarity with stochastic models used to value complex financial instruments within a risk-neutral framework and with financial instruments including fixed income securities, interest rate and equity derivatives
  • Experience with valuation software tools (Bloomberg, Fincad, Numerix, Matlab and Intex) preferred
  • Programming skills (VBA, C++, R and Python)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong in technical, business acumen, critical thinking and agility skills. Demonstrated ability to excel and drive strategic outcomes, coupled with a professional demeanor and a collaborative leadership approach, in a dynamic, evolving environment
  • Demonstrated quality service mindset, strong technical aptitude, ability to learn and navigate technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx and Power BI, MS Office Applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook and apply emerging technologies to enhance tax processes and insights
  • Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office for this position and be able to travel to reasonably commutable work locations using own means of transportation, such as a personal vehicle or public transportation
  • Ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed, at times with relatively short notice
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future
