Associate Director, Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Management

About the role

Serve as Revolution Medicines’ business operations lead interface between internal Product Development & Manufacturing (PDM) functions and Contract Research Development Manufacturing Organizations (CRDMOs) for drug product manufacturing and packaging. Manage CRDMO requests for proposals, proposal review, negotiation, RevMed governance approval, legal review, purchase order issuance, and invoice approval. Lead preparation and execution of CRDMO business reviews with SSSM leadership, PDM senior management, and business counterparts. Ensure projects and programs meet desired results, compliance, speed, quality, and cost.

Support contract negotiations in close collaboration with SSSM leadership and cross-functional teams (e.g., Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Finance, and Legal) to ensure best terms and conditions. Support development and implementation of outsourcing strategies for PDM. Support the selection process for CRDMOs in collaboration with SSSM leadership and technical SMEs. Support cross-functional CRDMO management activities, covering all aspects such as business needs identification, contracting, vendor qualification and set-up, compliant delivery of services, and discontinuation.

Work with SSSM leadership, PDM senior management, and cross-functional teams to assess and manage supplier performance through use of personal influence, internal business review meetings, and/or joint governance meetings. Identify and deliver on cost savings opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Manage CRDMO requests for proposals, proposal review, negotiation, governance approval, legal review, purchase order issuance, and invoice approval.
• Lead preparation and execution of CRDMO business reviews with leadership and cross-functional teams.
• Ensure projects and programs meet desired results in compliance, speed, quality, and cost.
• Support contract negotiations to secure optimal terms and conditions.
• Support development and implementation of outsourcing strategies for PDM.
• Support CRDMO selection processes in collaboration with leadership and technical SMEs.
• Manage cross-functional CRDMO activities, including vendor qualification, service delivery, and discontinuation.
• Assess and manage supplier performance through business review and governance meetings.
• Identify and deliver cost savings opportunities.

Requirements

• B.Sc. in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Life Sciences, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in pharmaceutical strategic sourcing and/or commercial supply chain.
• Experience working with domestic and international drug product CRDMOs.
• Experience managing tactical/operational projects.
• Working knowledge of drug product manufacturing, packaging, distribution, regulatory, QA, and cGMP requirements.
• Working knowledge of drug development and pharma end-to-end supply chain.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Solid project management, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective, open, and transparent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Capable of working on multiple projects/tasks and meeting timelines.
• Self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, complexity, and multi-tasking while delivering quality results.
• Team-oriented, progressive thinker who thrives in an innovative and creative work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing, negotiating, and executing clinical or commercial supply and/or quality agreements.
• Experience in drug product manufacturing and packaging operations.
• Experience with Project Management software (e.g., Smartsheet) and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite).
• Experience leading Technical Transfers.
• Experience working with Ex-US suppliers.

Pay

Base pay salary range for this full-time position in Redwood City, CA: $186,000 – $233,000 USD. The range may be adjusted for the local market where a candidate is based. Individual base pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, market dynamics, and relevant education or training.
