As an independent NGO, Action Against Hunger USA currently manages operations in Kenya, South Sudan, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Zambia, and Haiti.We are seeking an Associate Director, Strategic Partnerships to lead fundraising strategy for private foundations and programmatic corporate foundations, manage a high-value partner portfolio, and guide the growth of the Institutional Development team's partnership pipeline. About the RoleThe Associate Director, Strategic Partnerships sets fundraising goals, portfolio strategy, and team priorities for private foundation and programmatic corporate foundation partnerships. Reporting to the Director, Institutional Development, this role manages two direct reports, provides strategic direction to matrixed staff, and carries a portfolio that includes seven- and eight-figure opportunities. The Associate Director will strengthen the partner base and help build a pipeline expected to generate at least $10 million in annual revenue in FY2026, with sustained year-over-year growth through renewals, multi-year partnerships, and expanded donor engagement. The role works closely with executive leadership, program and technical teams, country offices, Finance, Awards Management, Communications, and colleagues across the Action Against Hunger network.This position is ideal for an experienced fundraising leader who combines relationship management, team leadership, proposal strategy, financial judgment, and disciplined pipeline management. Key ResponsibilitiesFundraising strategy: Set private foundation and programmatic corporate fundraising goals, portfolios, targets, and priorities for the Institutional Development unit.Portfolio leadership: Manage and steward major private foundation and corporate foundation partnerships, including seven- and eight-figure opportunities.Partner engagement: Lead donor cultivation, solicitation, recognition, and stewardship strategies across the full partnership lifecycle.Team management: Lead goal setting, performance management, coaching, professional development, and day-to-day problem-solving for two direct reports and matrixed team members.Proposal development: Coordinate strong, donor-aligned proposals and external-facing materials with technical, program, finance, awards, and communications teams.Opportunity advancement: Develop and oversee moves management plans for high-priority prospects and coordinate the internal stakeholders and next steps needed to advance qualified opportunities.Donor intelligence: Use donor research, market intelligence, account mapping, and due diligence to inform positioning, engagement, and fundraising decisions.Reporting and forecasting: Oversee portfolio tracking, pipeline reporting, revenue forecasting, donor deliverables, and CRM data quality; produce analyses and dashboards to monitor progress toward goals.Financial stewardship: Support proposal budget development, contract negotiations, donor compliance, and financial forecasting, and raise potential budget or compliance risks in a timely manner.Internal coordination: Maintain regular communication with network counterparts, executive leadership, country programs, technical units, regional teams, Finance, Awards Management, and Fundraising Systems.Organizational representation: Represent Action Against Hunger in conferences, panels, partner meetings, pitches, and other public or private forums.Contribute to special projects and other duties as required. Who We're Looking ForBachelor's degree required; an advanced degree is desirable.At least 10 years of progressively responsible fundraising experience securing and managing six-, seven-, and eight-figure grants and partnerships, with significant private foundation and/or corporate foundation experience.Demonstrated success cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding foundation and corporate foundation partners through the full donor lifecycle.Experience fundraising in international development, humanitarian assistance, global health, or the nonprofit sector strongly preferred.Experience managing direct reports and leading teams, including coaching, performance management, and professional development.Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation abilities.Strong project management, organization, and attention to detail, with the ability to establish priorities and manage multiple deadlines under pressure.Sound judgment, creativity, and the ability to identify solutions in a fast-paced environment.Ability to work independently and collaboratively, and to engage respectfully and diplomatically with diverse teams and senior stakeholders.Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; familiarity with Salesforce is a plus.Additional language skills, including French or Spanish, are a plus.Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required and to work outside normal office hours when needed to support global teams and partner obligations.Sincere commitment to Action Against Hunger's mission, values, gender equality commitments, and safeguarding principles.
