About the Role
The Associate Director, SEO Specialists owns the day-to-day operations of the SEO Specialist team. The role combines people and operational leadership with hands-on SEO expertise across technical execution, web launches, audits, pre-sales support, and delivery of signed SEO products.
Responsibilities
- Lead the SEO Specialist team's daily operations, including task intake, triage, prioritization, staffing, workload distribution, quality, and delivery timelines.
- Manage and mentor Lead SEO Specialists and SEO Specialists, including the Specialist responsible for pre-launch SEO on web projects.
- Oversee technical setup, migration checklists, redirect mapping, information architecture reviews, and other pre-launch SEO deliverables.
- Scope, resource, oversee, and quality-review SEO audits, pre-sales support, and signed SEO products.
- Partner with the Director of SEO Operations on capacity planning, staffing forecasts, escalations, and department priorities.
- Establish and enforce SOPs and QA standards while serving as the escalation point for complex technical SEO issues.
- Collaborate with SEO Strategy, Content, UX, Development, Sales, Project Management, and Media teams.
- Manage short-term SEO projects and oversee the internal link-building service, including team resources and partner databases.
Qualifications
- 5-7+ years of SEO experience, including technical SEO, audits, pre-launch and migration SEO, and pre-sales support.
- Proven experience managing a team, including other managers or leads.
- Strong understanding of the complete SEO lifecycle: strategy, execution, QA, reporting, and refinement.
- Experience supporting pitches, proposals, RFPs, or project scoping with Sales or New Business teams.
- Ability to manage concurrent projects, competing priorities, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for client-facing and pre-sales settings.
- High proficiency with Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, Botify or DeepCrawl, SEOClarity or BrightEdge, and standard SEO toolsets.
- Advanced spreadsheet skills and working knowledge of HTML, CSS, WordPress, Shopify, Magento, BigCommerce, and other common CMS platforms.
Pay
Salary range: $85,000-$105,000
