Associate Director - PV
About the role
As the Associate Director, PVG at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will ensure the delivery of safety management services consistent with company SOPs/WPDs, ICH guidelines, and regulatory requirements. You will work with managers and liaise with other departmental personnel, oversee function operations, and manage the activities of managers and staff. This role involves developing and maintaining departmental SOPs/WPDs, long-range planning for new processes and staffing needs, preparing business proposals, and interacting frequently with Business Development and Bids and Contracts groups.
Responsibilities
- Oversee effectiveness of department operations, including safety processes, resource utilization, scope of work, budget, and contractual issues.
- Develop processes and strategies to meet departmental and company goals.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant company policies, procedures, and global regulations.
- Guide managers and train project team members as appropriate.
- Assist business development, foster client relationships, and provide department business development presentations to secure new business and retain existing clients.
- Review and provide operational input on budgets, proposals, contracts, and renewals associated with existing clients.
- Manage a staff of experienced professionals, including interviewing, selection, job description preparation, professional development, goal setting, performance management, coaching, mentoring, employee counseling, and separations.
- Approve courses of action on salary administration, hiring, corrective action, and terminations.
- Review and approve time records, expense reports, requests for leave, and overtime.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualification.
- Comparable experience of 10+ years.
- 5+ years of management responsibility.
- Proven leadership skills.
- In some cases, an equivalency consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training, and/or directly related experience may be considered sufficient.
Skills
- Expertise in global regulatory requirements for adverse event reporting, ICH safety guidelines, and GCPs.
- Knowledgeable in safety database management.
- Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and fiscal management.
- Strong analytical skills and excellence in oral and written communications.
- Ability to handle multiple issues on multiple projects simultaneously.
- High degree of independence in decision-making and problem-solving.
- Ability to act as a liaison with other divisions to complete contract/regulatory requirements.
- Strong negotiating skills.
- Ability to analyze and evaluate processes and procedures.
