Associate Director, Procurement

About the role

Provide daily management and support to category/commodity team members and ensure proper development and execution of comprehensive category/commodity strategies that exceed both short-term and long-term targets. Accountable for all commercial negotiations and supplier selections within commodities.

• Develop Category/commodity strategy and playbook.
• Manage strategic suppliers through formal Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) process and monitor supplier risk across all responsible commodities.
• Engage with Project and New Product Development (NPD) teams to support initiatives.
• Provide daily/weekly management and support to category/commodity team members while continually developing and expanding individual and team capabilities utilizing the Managing for Daily/Continuous Improvement (MD/CI) process.
• Align with functional stakeholders to incorporate product and manufacturing strategies into category/commodity strategy while gaining leadership support.
• Lead category/commodity team members (direct & indirect reports) to develop and execute comprehensive Opportunity Assessment for commodity including spend segmentation, commodity maturity, cost drivers, and supply market analysis.
• Develop Sourcing Strategy for commodity detailing projects, sourcing levers, timing, resources, and expected benefits.
• Execute sourcing projects including RFx, continuous improvement, consolidation, etc.
• Define negotiations strategy including supplier profiles, commercial negotiations targets, switching costs, and building Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
• Develop and execute commodity blocking strategy.
• Exceed spend under long-term agreement and supplier rationalization targets.
• Manage contract lifecycle and compliance.
• Partner with Regional and Sector Procurement teams to ensure delivery of productivity and lead team countermeasures aligned to commodities and regions/sectors.
• Improve supplier performance metrics including quality, delivery, productivity, and innovation through SRM process.
• Support new product development (NPD) and new technology introduction (NTI) through preferred supplier and SRM programs.
• Monitor supplier risk across all responsible commodities and develop detailed mitigation plans for critical components and at-risk suppliers.
• Manage category/commodity inflation, both mitigation and recovery.
• Ensure cash flow and spend under contract meet annual targets.
• Deliver commodity productivity through price, value analysis (VA), or continuous improvement projects.
• Aggregate category/commodity playbooks and present comprehensive team updates during Quarterly Category/Commodity Reviews (QCR).

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or Engineering.
• 10+ years experience in Supply Chain or Procurement.
• 6+ years experience in Category/Commodity Management.
• 7+ years experience leading large complex cross-functional projects.
• Ability to travel up to 25%.

Preferred Requirements

• Advanced degree such as a Master’s degree is preferred.
• Strong analytic experience.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Direct experience in the development and management of a global supply base.

Pay

The annual salary for this position is between $143,000.00 - $286,000.00. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
