Associate Director of Nursing

About the role

The Associate Director of Nursing provides leadership, direction, program planning, and clinical expertise to the United Health Services Nursing Departments. They facilitate the effective and efficient delivery of Nursing Services through the management of resource allocation and planning mechanisms in line management and staff capacities. In collaboration with Nursing Leadership and the Medical Directors from said units and other departments as required, they direct quality improvement projects, patient care referral activity, budgeting, education, program development, strategic planning activities, and marketing/networking.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements care models and programs that result in patient care outcomes exceeding established benchmarks.
• Implements best practices and programs to prevent hospital acquired conditions in addition to ensuring compliance with Federal and State regulations.
• Facilitates the effective and efficient delivery of Nursing Services through the management of resource allocation and planning mechanisms in line management and staff capacities.
• Directs quality improvement projects, patient care referral activity, budgeting, education, program development, strategic planning activities, and marketing/networking.
• Collaborates with Nursing Leadership and the Medical Directors from said units and other departments as required.
• Manages and develops nursing staff to meet departmental goals and objectives.
• Ensures compliance with Federal and State regulations.
• Participates in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
• Provides leadership and mentorship to nursing staff.

Requirements

• Minimum Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree Eight (8) years of progressively responsible relevant clinical experience or MBA/MSN with 2-3 years of progressively responsible relevant clinical experience. Previous management experience Quality management and performance improvement experience.
• Preferred: MBA or Master’s Degree in a related field License/Certification Minimum Required: Current New York State Registered Nurse License Preferred: Professional certification in a related nursing specialty or other related field; required within 2 years of accepting position Relevant skills certification (i.e., CPR, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, Fetal Monitoring, Chemotherapy).

Qualifications

• Education/Experience: Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree or MBA/MSN with 2-3 years of progressively responsible relevant clinical experience.
