Associate Director of Event Sales
About the role
As Associate Director of Event Sales, you will represent Tavistock Restaurant Collection’s celebrated Boston-area concepts—Abe & Louie’s, Atlantic Fish Co., Joe’s American Bar & Grill, and Coach Grill—and grow private dining, group events, business entertaining, celebrations, and special occasions across the market. Each restaurant offers clients a unique environment for gathering, from a classic steakhouse and landmark seafood destination to lively American dining and a historic suburban setting. You will join a collaborative, results-oriented team that values relationship building, thoughtful execution, and a genuine passion for hospitality.
This role is ideal for a sales professional who thrives on developing a strong pipeline, converting inquiries into lasting client partnerships, and ensuring every event is seamlessly supported from the first conversation through the final guest farewell.
Responsibilities
- Support Boston-area restaurants to increase à la carte and group dining sales.
- Deliver genuine hospitality to guests.
- Lead, coach, and develop the Sales Manager and Coordinator team, establishing clear goals, expectations, and accountability for results.
- Develop and execute sales strategies to drive revenue growth, profitability, and year-over-year performance.
- Monitor sales activity, pipeline, forecasting, conversion, and revenue performance; identify gaps and implement action plans.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with General Managers, Executive Chefs, key clients, hotels, businesses, and community partners.
- Partner closely with restaurant leadership to align sales efforts with operational capacity, priorities, and guest experience.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, promotions, and community initiatives.
- Ensure consistent execution of sales processes, standards, reporting, and company policies.
- Conduct regular team meetings, one-on-ones, coaching sessions, and performance reviews.
- Serve as a strategic sales leader and resource for the team, removing obstacles and driving continuous improvement.
- Support exceptional guest experiences by ensuring effective communication and seamless execution of events.
- Participate in weekly operations meetings with General Managers to communicate sales/marketing updates and address restaurant needs.
- Adopt a flexible schedule to accommodate guests and be present at event functions when necessary.
- Adhere to, and enforce all sales policies, practices, and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalency required; college degree in marketing, sales, or hospitality-related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in event sales, hospitality sales, group sales, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience directly managing, coaching, or leading sales professionals.
- Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales and revenue goals.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing sales strategies.
- Experience with sales forecasting, pipeline management, reporting, and performance metrics.
- Strong understanding of hospitality, events, and the group dining sales process.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and event software.
- Able to communicate (speak, read, and write) in English.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Valid driver’s license.
