The Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan seeks an Associate Director of Advancement to join our dynamic team. As part of the Office of Advancement, this role focuses on securing major gifts ($100k+) from prospective donors in the tri-state region, primarily Manhattan.

About the role

The Associate Director of Advancement will manage a portfolio of donor prospects, engaging them in conversations about their experiences and potential philanthropic involvement with Michigan Ross. This hybrid position is based in Ann Arbor, MI, with an expectation of three days per week on-site. Occasional domestic travel and flexible work hours may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies for prospect discovery, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Travel regularly to secure major gifts, maintaining comfort with public transportation and travel logistics.
  • Engage with donors through the full fundraising lifecycle, including meetings in various settings.
  • Maintain active relationships with Office of University Development colleagues and collaborate on multi-affiliate initiatives.
  • Participate in strategic planning and campaign participation, contributing to the development of geographic area objectives and strategies.
  • Assist in the execution of major fundraising campaigns, ensuring appropriate reporting and resource management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience in fundraising, especially in personal solicitation programs, or relevant work experience in sales or similar field.
  • Demonstrated experience working with a variety of partners and excellent written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of business productivity tools like Google Workspace or Microsoft Office and video conferencing applications.
  • Experience working with sensitive and confidential data.

Qualifications
