Pay
Salary Range: $65,734 - $76,689 annually. This position is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.
Schedule
Full-time, hybrid work location.

About the Role
University Advancement professionals build support and affinity for the institution through community engagement, alumni outreach, and strategic partnerships. The Associate Director of Development coordinates and implements philanthropic fundraising activities for the broad campus, scholarships, and select assigned units. This role focuses on cultivating, sustaining, and increasing donor relationships, with a strong emphasis on mid-level and major gift prospects ($15K–$25K and higher).
Responsibilities
- Fundraising (75%):
- Raise philanthropic support while adhering to the Donor Bill of Rights to achieve established goals.
- Identify, attract, and manage prospective donors, and retain assigned existing donors to secure additional investments for the institution.
- Cultivate and solicit donations at the major gift level, with a focus on identifying and engaging new donors.
- Manage a donor portfolio of 90–120 prospects, with goals for personal contacts, proposed gifts, planned gifts, grants, and prospect identification set in collaboration with management.
- Develop and sustain relationships with individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
- Collaborate on major giving prospects for complex giving opportunities.
- Work closely with UCCS faculty, staff, and volunteers to develop and implement fundraising strategies and appeals.
- Demonstrate expertise in fundraising techniques, including successful cold-calling to generate future support.
- Execute stewardship activities to enhance donor relationships in collaboration with the Advancement and Engagement Division.
- Travel in-state (60%) and out-of-state (15%) as required.
- Reporting and Data (15%):
- Ensure the integrity of donor data and report on annual gift activities in alignment with CU strategies.
- Utilize donor databases (Advance/CU Ascend) for accurate record maintenance, proposal management, and development of reports to assess and refine donor strategies.
- Provide necessary documentation and follow-up for donors and internal campus partners.
- Organizing and Coordinating Projects and Events (10%):
- Represent the University at events and community functions to cultivate and steward donors.
- Support, coordinate, and selectively implement engagement initiatives tied to strategic priorities.
- Contribute to a team-focused advancement and engagement division.
Requirements
- Completion of a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 4 years of successful higher education fundraising experience or a combination of fundraising and similar transferable work experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Database Management Software, particularly Salesforce CRM.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and digital communication tools.
- Ability to engage with high-profile and high-net-worth individuals while maintaining donor confidentiality and enhancing the donor experience.
- Strong organizational skills to manage numerous complex tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, and problem-solve independently with minimal supervision.
