Associate Director of Counseling Psychology Program at Shady Grove (Contingent II)

Contingent II, non-regular fixed-term position.

About the role

This position performs coordination of site operations including marketing and outreach for the Counseling Psychology Program and Addictions Certificate at the Shady Grove campus. The Associate Director assists in overseeing professional standards and curriculum offerings for cohorts beginning in Fall 2022, contributes to the program’s overall success, and reports to the Department Chair and Dean on the BSU Main Campus, with connections to Shady Grove administrators as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates site operations for the Counseling Psychology Program and Addictions Certificate.
• Collaborates with the Counseling Psychology Program Coordinator on the Main Campus.
• Provides academic advisement to students in the program.
• Supports cohorts entering the program.
• Develops and manages curriculum offerings for the Shady Grove Campus.
• Conducts outreach to schools and the community to recruit prospective students for cohorts.
• Maintains and builds community relationships.
• Creates marketing materials and hosts open houses to recruit students.
• Meets with the Coordinator for Counseling Psychology, Director of Continuing Education, Department Chair, and Dean on the main campus to align Shady Grove guidelines and program needs.
• Stays informed about emerging issues in Counseling.
• Participates in planning and managing the Shady Grove budget for program marketing and instructional needs.
• Requests, allocates, and manages resources required to accomplish department goals and objectives.
• Ensures adherence to program guidelines from the main campus.
• Attends orientation and faculty meetings as required.
• Completes duties in compliance with all Shady Grove campus standards, policies, and guidelines.
• Addresses student issues professionally and timely, following institutional policies and procedures, and makes referrals as necessary.
• Provides service and excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Doctorate Degree in Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
• Full-time or adjunct teaching experience in higher education.
• Experience working as a Counselor in the State of Maryland.
