Associate Director of Basic Sciences or Shared Resources - Associate Professor

About the role

The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) Cancer Center and the Department of Physiology have made a strategic commitment to expand basic science cancer research with a particular focus on cancer metabolism. We invite applications from senior investigators, at the Associate Professor or Professor level, who have well-established research programs in this area. Qualified candidates will be appointed to a leadership role within the MCW Cancer Center as either Associate Director of Basic Sciences or Associate Director Shared Resources (AD of BS or AD of SRs).

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific leadership to advance and integrate basic science research within the MCW Cancer Center, fostering collaboration across the Cancer Biology, Discovery & Developmental Therapeutics and Cancer Control research programs.
• Serve as key advisor for programmatic grant development focused on innovative preventative, diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
• Lead development of shared research infrastructure, technologies, and resources supporting multidisciplinary research.
• Support programmatic research initiatives, faculty mentoring, trainee and staff training, and help shape recruitment and collaborative priorities to advance interdisciplinary research across the cancer continuum.

Requirements

Qualified applicants must hold a PhD, MD/PhD or MD degree and have a demonstrated history of securing and maintaining extramural funding, including current support in any subarea of cancer metabolism research. These areas include, tumor cell, immune cell, and/or whole organism level metabolism research.

Qualifications

• Strong, funded research programs in cancer metabolism.
• Leadership roles available as Associate Director of Basic Sciences or Associate Director of Shared Resources.
• Experience driving strategic direction, collaboration, and integration across basic, clinical, and population-based cancer research programs.
• Proven track record in programmatic grant development and innovative research in prevention, diagnostics, and therapeutics.
• Ability to lead the development of shared research infrastructure, technologies, and resources supporting multidisciplinary research.
• Active involvement in faculty mentoring, recruitment, and training of trainees and staff.
• Contribution to institutional priorities, including growth of research programs and pursuit of NCI designation.
