About the role
The Associate Director of Alumni Career Services reports to the Senior Associate Director for Employer & Alumni Career Engagement. This position supervises both staff and student workers.
Responsibilities
- Develop and grow a program of individual coaching and vocational and career discernment for alumni.
- Schedule and meet virtually or in-person with alumni across the lifespan seeking career support, referrals, graduate school application support, and assistance with networking.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop marketing and communications strategy to promote alumni career services.
- Travel to key cities 2-3 times per year with significant alumni populations to provide in-person 1:1 and/or group career coaching.
- Attend relevant Twin Cities based alumni events to connect with St. Olaf alumni and promote alumni career services.
- Lead development of enhanced alumni career resources and career communities.
- Create and maintain an online repository of alumni-optimized career resources.
- Partner with Alumni and Parent Relations and other stakeholders to explore and implement industry-based digital career communities.
- Develop and curate a regular cadence of Ole-centered career content for alumni communications channels (e.g. LinkedIn, email, website).
- Measure effectiveness of alumni career coaching services and enhance offerings as needed.
- Develop effective metrics for evaluating alumni coaching services.
- Measure and communicate annually or as requested.
- Benchmark comparison institutions regarding innovations in alumni career services, implement enhanced offerings.
- Maintain a record of individual career-related appointments with alumni including services used and outcomes as available.
- Collect feedback on the usefulness of 1:1 career coaching by surveying alumni who used the service.
- Support, respect, and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values, and points of view to build a strong and inclusive community.
- Complete and meet deadlines for required training and performance management cycle.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
- Preferred: Master’s degree in relevant field.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in career coaching/counseling or a background in human resources/recruiting/business or related industry.
- Preferred: Background in career coaching in higher education; career counseling with experienced professionals; experience in program development.
