About the role
The Associate Director of Alumni and Constituent Engagement is responsible for the management and implementation of programs and projects at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine's Alumni Affairs department that are valued by alumni, former residents, and friends. This role builds enduring and mutually beneficial relationships, inspires loyalty and financial support, strengthens the institution's reputation, and involves alumni and friends in meaningful activities to benefit students and advance the Temple University mission.
Responsibilities
- Define, develop, implement, and maintain strategic engagement initiatives and programs with the goals of increasing constituent engagement, delivering benefit to alumni and school communities, and working in close partnership with frontline fundraising staff to ignite the spirit of alumni giving.
- Serve as a key player in designing and implementing all facets of strategic alumni engagement activities, including the design, enhancement, and execution of alumni events (Reunion & Alumni Weekend, Homecoming, affinity and identity-based receptions, student engagement events, etc.).
- Broaden the scope and increase the quality and diversity of programs, services, benefits, and activities for alumni and former residents.
- Provide meaningful opportunities for former residents and alumni of all class years, life cycle stages, and interests to engage with the Lewis Katz School of Medicine.
- Support high-quality engagement, volunteer, networking, and professional development activities and events for a range of Katz alumni and former resident audiences and constituencies.
- Support the Medical Alumni Association Board, including the planning and implementation of their three Board meetings per year, and assist in overseeing Alumni Board Committees.
- Manage the alumni communications calendar in coordination with the Director of Communications and Marketing.
- Design and deploy alumni communications, including web content, web-based communications, print and digital communications, and event communications such as the alumni e-newsletter.
- Create timelines and project management schedules for events, communications, and programming; track progress and analyze/report on results.
- Manage and maintain constituent records.
- Develop programs to build awareness and affinity among current students so they stay connected and involved after graduation, including programs that focus on building student-alumni connections.
- Strategically engage and educate students and young alumni about alumni benefits and programming.
- Collaborate with the Student Affairs Office to create high-impact engagement opportunities between students and alumni.
- Develop and steward relationships with alumni to assist with recruitment of volunteer leaders.
- Develop and maintain relationships with faculty and staff across Temple's campus along with internal and external stakeholders to support the programs and initiatives of alumni relations.
- Manage event registration and support and execute outreach efforts to reach event goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- At least 4 years of experience in alumni relations, event planning, communications and marketing, volunteer management, or fundraising, preferably in higher education or a related field.
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft 365, CRM databases, Adobe CS, a track record of creating compelling content for utilization across multiple channels, and familiarity with social media, digital marketing platforms, and analytics tools.
- The ability to work proactively, creatively, analytically, and strategically.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals both inside and outside of the university.
- The ability to work evening and weekend hours, as needed.
Schedule
This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule.
Pay
Salary range: $61,840-$70,000
