About the Role

The Associate Director of Admissions and Enrollment is a key member of the Admissions and Enrollment team and a visible, welcoming face of the school to prospective and current families. Reporting to and working in close partnership with the Chief Admissions and Enrollment Officer, this role helps lead and execute the full cycle of admissions, re-enrollment, and exmissions for students across both campuses. This is a heavily parent-facing role, requiring warmth, professionalism, and genuine enthusiasm at every touchpoint.

Responsibilities

  • Admissions Program Leadership and Execution:
    • Support the Chief Admissions and Enrollment Officer in leading and executing admissions and exmissions.
    • Participate in weekly admissions committee meetings, contributing mission-aligned input to decisions.
    • Maintain admissions records and systems with meticulous attention to detail and confidentiality.
    • Use the school’s online admissions platform to manage workflow and ensure a smooth experience for families.
    • Collaborate with the Associate Director of Community Affairs to streamline admissions and enrollment processes.
  • Family and Prospective Student Engagement:
    • Lead admissions tours, presenting the campus, program, and community in an engaging and informative way.
    • Support re-enrollment meetings for current families.
    • Coordinate applicant visits, ensuring a warm and well-organized experience.
    • Conduct meetings and tours for prospective families and referral sources (e.g., educational consultants).
    • Support admissions and community events, including open houses and information sessions.
  • External Representation and Communication:
    • Represent the school at networking meetings, community gatherings, school fairs, and conferences.
    • Serve as an enthusiastic ambassador, articulating the school’s mission and program confidently.
    • Maintain consistent, mission-aligned communication across all settings.
  • General Support and Professional Conduct:
    • Support the school’s leadership in advancing admissions and enrollment goals.
    • Maintain a calm, enthusiastic, and professional demeanor in all interactions.
    • Model a rigorous, collaborative, and empathetic work ethic.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Admissions and Enrollment Officer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Prior experience in admissions, enrollment management, or a related family- or client-facing role, ideally in an independent or nonprofit school setting. Experience with gifted, twice-exceptional (2e), neurodiverse, or learning differences populations is a plus.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly and represent the school with warmth and credibility.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple processes, deadlines, and confidential records.
  • Proficiency with admissions management software and general office technology (e.g., online application platforms, CRM/database systems, Microsoft Office or Google Workspace).
  • Comfort and confidence with public speaking and presenting to groups of varying sizes.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for the school’s mission and flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for tours, events, and fairs.
  • Ability to travel regularly between the school’s two campuses.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with and knowledge of the NYC independent/Guild school community.

Work Environment

This role operates in a school setting across multiple buildings with elevators. The Lower School is located on the 4th floor of one building, and the Upper School spans the 1st, 5th, and 6th floors of another, with an administrative suite in a separate location. Regular walking between locations and occasional travel between campuses (approximately two blocks apart) is required.

Physical Demands

This position is active and involves continuous standing, walking, and climbing stairs. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items under 10 pounds. Typing is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Pay

Annual salary range: $90,000 - $120,000.

Schedule

This is a full-time exempt position. Administrative staff work year-round, including summer. Workloads ebb and flow with seasons, and occasional work outside of standard hours is expected.
