Responsibilities

The Associate Director of Accounts Payable (AP) provides enterprise leadership for the AP shared services function across all hospital entities. The role leverages deep subject matter expertise to implement and optimize systems and processes that drive operational efficiency and desired business outcomes.

  • Oversight of invoice ingestion and processing, procure-to-pay workflows, vendor management, and disbursements, ensuring standardized processes, compliance, and effective financial stewardship.
  • Delivers exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders across the system and is accountable for ensuring adherence to established vendor, procurement, and payment policies/procedures.
  • Drives process improvements, strengthens controls, and enhances day-to-day AP operations for invoice visibility, payment accuracy/timeliness, customer service improvements, productivity KPI monitoring, SLA performance, and overall cost efficiency.
  • Oversees the resolution of payment issues, exception management, and team development initiatives to reduce manual effort, minimize errors, and enhance financial visibility.
  • Pairs closely with executive leadership, supply chain, finance, PrimEra and IT to ensure AP practices align with organizational objectives, regulatory requirements, and enterprise-wide standardization initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, or an equivalent amount of experience in Accounts Payable (AP).
  • More than 7 years of demonstrated subject matter expertise in procure-to-pay roles with a track record of progressive AP leadership and operations experience (more than 5 years).
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Lawson, Oracle) and AP automation tools (e.g., Brainware, On-Base, ImageNow, Concur, GHX, Kofax).
  • Expertise in leading Accounts Payable operations organization-wide within a large complex enterprise setting, including evaluation of AP processes, identification of bottlenecks, and implementing process improvements where needed.
  • Strategic planning, functional, and leadership skills to develop and execute upon a 3-year plan to promote continuous innovation and motivate team members to achieve defined milestones.
  • Prior experience in successfully leading the implementation and integration of AP automation software to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Proven leadership capability, efficient communication skills, and coaching skills to define and ensure proper training for AP staff on software tools, policies and processes.
  • Strong change management and implementation skills.
  • Prior experience working across functions, business segments for a large company with oversees support.
  • Ability to analyze and improve complex processes using data-driven insights.
  • Experience presenting to executives and addressing concerns about hurdles in changing processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a health system, integrated delivery network (IDN), or multi-entity healthcare organization.
  • Relevant professional certifications and acknowledgments.

Pay

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $134,784.00 to $180,003.20 on an annualized basis. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
