About the role

The Associate Director of Graduate Alumni Engagement helps shape and strengthen MIT's graduate alumni community by designing innovative programs and experiences that connect graduate alumni with one another and with MIT through on-campus, global, virtual, and online engagement opportunities. Responsibilities include cultivating and stewarding alumni volunteers, leading career and professional development initiatives, building and growing digital communities and engagement platforms, and collaborating with alumni leaders, academic departments, campus partners, and colleagues to advance lifelong engagement that reflects MIT's spirit of discovery, innovation, and learning. The role uses data, alumni feedback, and technology to continuously inform programming, community participation, and graduate alumni engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement innovative programs and experiences for graduate alumni engagement (on-campus, global, virtual, and online).
  • Cultivate and steward alumni volunteers.
  • Lead career and professional development initiatives for graduate alumni.
  • Build and grow digital communities and engagement platforms.
  • Collaborate with alumni leaders, academic departments, campus partners, and colleagues to advance lifelong engagement.
  • Use data, alumni feedback, and technology to inform and improve programming and community participation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • A minimum of three years' experience in alumni relations, advancement, volunteer management, constituent engagement, career and professional development, or a related nonprofit, membership, healthcare, or higher education environment.
  • Experience managing engagement programs, volunteer communities, or online platforms in a complex organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships, steward volunteers, manage multiple priorities, recommend improvements, and translate strategic goals into successful initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, project management, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn engagement technologies, manage digital platforms, collaborate with vendors, and leverage technology to strengthen constituent engagement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Ellucian Advance Web or other enterprise fundraising systems.

Schedule

This is a hybrid position with a combination of on-campus and remote work. Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally on occasion and work evenings and weekends as required.
