Associate Director, Global Knowledge Management
About the Role
Lead the strategic operations of a sustainable, world-class knowledge management and insight advisory service across the CSL Group. This role is responsible for the overall administration, organization, governance, strategic planning, budget administration, and personnel management of the Global Knowledge Management (GKM) team.
- Contribute to the CSL Data Standards and governance program through project participation, functional leadership roles, and information management consultation.
- Manage internal/external resources to support operations or key projects aligned with the Digital Information and Knowledge Management Strategy, with a focus on AI.
- Responsible for the cost center, including resource allocation, consulting, data collection subscriptions, and contract development/negotiations.
- Partner with Global Sourcing as required by CSL policy.
- Ensure CSL has access to the information and research needed to meet business needs while maximizing data collection value and usage.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with internal and external knowledge services, including pharmaceutical library resources, industry consortiums, and peer networks.
- Leverage connections to access, share, and apply relevant scientific, regulatory, and industry information supporting organizational goals.
- Lead, develop, and implement innovative information technologies, systems, and workflows to optimize specialized information delivery models and services.
- Drive vendor relationship management and procurement decisions for key knowledge resources, databases, and APIs, ensuring strategic alignment and cost efficiency.
- Promote a cultural shift toward Digital Innovation, value creation, and a data ownership mindset.
- Lead and empower a globally distributed knowledge team through consultative and transformational leadership, including coaching and mentoring.
- Oversee the operations and performance of global systems and platforms, including internal and external information sources and CSL’s Copyright Agency Limited license.
- Implement business improvement processes through technology integration, continuous improvement, usage metrics, and quality management principles.
- Develop performance metrics and programs to continuously monitor and improve services and resource utilization.
- Negotiate, influence, and collaborate with stakeholders in a cross-matrix environment to align strategies, enhance performance, and increase operational efficiencies.
Requirements
- MS, MLIS/MLS, Ph.D. in science-related fields such as Biochemistry or Chemistry, or equivalent experience in Knowledge Management.
- Minimum eight (8) years of experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry.
- Minimum eight (8) years of experience in Knowledge Management, Research and Development, or Medical Affairs.
- Five (5) years of experience in People Leadership roles in global organizations (highly preferred).
- Proven leadership skills and experience in the Biopharmaceutical Industry.
- Preferred five (5) years of experience in Global Library Services or comparable information management responsibility.
- Data Standards and Governance Experience within Life Science.
- Extensive understanding of Copyright regulations, with a focus on AI and API usage.
- Vendor Management and contract negotiation skills, particularly for research databases and their integration.
- International experience and excellent English fluency for professional, scientific, and technical communication.
