About the role

The Associate Director for Collaborative Fund Management plays a crucial role in UW Medicine Advancement, focusing on translating complex gift and fund transfer agreements into efficient financial processes. This role requires a strategic mindset, strong organizational skills, and the ability to build robust systems that support philanthropic efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for collaborative fund management, aligning expectations and processes for complex philanthropic transfers.
  • Build and oversee financial processes and systems to improve fund transfer workflows, documentation, tracking tools, and reconciliation practices.
  • Translate donor intent and gift agreement terms into compliant fund structures within University financial systems.
  • Provide guidance on gift purpose and allowable use, and advise on the financial and operational implications of complex gift structures.
  • Create documentation, templates, and policy development to improve consistency, clarity, and long-term operational sustainability.
  • Collaborate with various teams to support shared goals and workable solutions, and participate in partnership planning conversations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, communications, nonprofit management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience, with four or more years of experience in complex administration, project management, fundraising operations, and/or finance operations.
  • Demonstrated use of sound project management methodologies and tools, with the ability to develop standard processes, write supporting documentation, and implement methodologies.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently, think analytically, solve problems, set priorities, and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Experience collaborating with colleagues across large, complex organizations and building strong working relationships with stakeholders with differing needs and priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, including the ability to communicate openly, directly, and professionally to foster dialogue and resolve differences effectively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams), with the willingness and ability to learn the UW donor CRM, Workday Finance, and related UW accounting and finance systems.

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business, communications, nonprofit management, or a related field, or comparable work experience, and four or more years of experience in complex administration, project management, fundraising operations, and/or finance operations within a nonprofit, higher education, or healthcare setting.

Benefits

Compensation range: $87,000.00 - $104,508.00 annually. Benefits include a comprehensive package that includes health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and other perks designed to support your well-being and career growth.

Working Conditions

Performs work primarily in a shared cubicle environment with exposure to standard office noise levels and activity, including calls, meetings, and in-person conversations. Occasional local and regional travel is expected. Expected to have regular, reliable transportation for local travel and be willing to travel when necessary.
