Position Summary
The Associate Director of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) will provide financial planning, reporting, business insight, and analysis to support all functions across the organization. The role involves serving as a business partner who works in a corporate planning system to support and collaborate with business functions, driving business decisions, growth, and profitability through financial data analysis.
Primary Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Accounting on the month-end and quarter-end close processes, including accruals, reconciliations, pre-paid, etc.
- Review contracts and purchase requisitions to ensure financial compliance
- Aid in preparing Quarterly Audit Committee and Board of Directors presentations
- Perform balance sheet, P&L, cashflow analysis, including COGS and CAPEX/Fixed Assets analysis, to support operational decision making
- Prepare regular financial reports and dashboards to provide insights into business performance
- Maintain and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to commercial activities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop quarterly forecast, annual budget, and short/long-range plans
- Monitor budget versus actual performance and provide variance analysis and commentary
- Identify opportunities for cost control and revenue growth
- Build and maintain financial models to support commercial strategies and investment decisions
- Conduct scenario analysis to evaluate the potential impact of different strategies on financial outcomes
- Partner with cross-functional teams on various projects and initiatives
- Conduct ad hoc financial analysis to answer specific business questions and support decision making
- Proactively identify opportunities for improvements/efficiencies, communicate findings, and implement solutions

- Experience with Adaptive and Power BI financial planning system and ERP systems required
- In-depth FP&A experience at a start-up, as well as the foundation of best practices which comes from having worked within a larger organization
- Experience with data analytics, business visualization, and systems automations
- Sophisticated financial modeling experience, including the buildout of detailed operating models and dashboards from scratch
- Experience with enterprise planning software (Great Plains, Management Reporter, etc.), including design and on-going efficiency enhancements
- Demonstrated track record of leading and collaborating cross-functionally to gain buy-in, support, and assistance from key stakeholders
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; master’s degree a plus
- Minimum of 7 years of financial experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry; commercialization experience preferred
