Associate Director, Financial Aid-Debt Management
Job Summary
Join a Financial Aid team focused on service, access, and student success! As a leader in the SOM’s Financial Aid Office, this position provides excellent customer service to prospective students, applicants, and current students' financial aid support activities across all medical and health professions education students.

Established in 1930, Duke University School of Medicine is a leading institution dedicated to excellence in learning, investigation, clinical care, and community engagement. This position plays a crucial role in supporting students through financial aid programs, particularly focusing on debt management.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the development of unique financial literacy training courses and programs.
- Ensure compliance with university, state, and federal regulations.
- Provide reports to the Office of Medical and Health Professions Education and the LCME related to debt management.
- Advise students on financial aid planning, budgeting, and debt management.
- Manage the financial aid appeals process and oversee the appeals committee.
- Manage Satisfactory Academic Progress for Financial Aid per Federal Regulations.
- Design and evaluate work processes, cross train staff, and manage electronic and paper record management.
- Supervise and evaluate financial aid service representatives’ performance.
- Manage CANVAS Financial Literacy platform as a resource center for students and programs.
- Support the creation and implementation of an academic year calendar for financial aid functions.
- Understand needs analysis application process, federal regulations, and institutional funding.
- Manage tuition reconciliation for the Doctor of Medicine program.
- Participate in the management team with the Assistant Dean.
Requirements
- Completion of a bachelor's degree program.
- Five (5) years of experience in administering student financial aid programs.
- Preferred experience includes three (3) years related training and/or administrative experience in financial literacy education.

- Strong knowledge of Federal, State, and Institutional Aid Regulations.
- Hands-on experience with Debt Management & Default Prevention.

Benefits
