About the role

As the Associate Director of Finance, you will join our finance team and be responsible for financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting for multiple business lanes with funding from a diverse portfolio of sponsors including federal, state, industry, foundation, and other contracts. This role provides pivotal support for the annual federal Single Audit and requires a depth of knowledge in post-award financial management of federally funded grants. You will manage professional-level finance staff in a hybrid work environment in Phoenix, AZ, during normal business hours.

Responsibilities

• Provide financial leadership and expertise to ensure the achievement of financial goals, including revenue growth, operating margins, accounts receivable, and expense management.
• Ensure effective processes for accurate charge capture, CDM management, timely billing and collection, and compliance with cost standards and principles.
• Identify performance improvement opportunities through analysis of trends and variances.
• Manage key financial, accounting, budgeting, and reporting processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
• Develop and implement financial policies and procedures as necessary.
• Collaborate with operations management to provide financial information for planning, staffing, budgeting, and operational decision-making.
• Establish and report financial performance metrics in conjunction with operations management.
• Present financial information and trends to stakeholders, including internal committees and administration.
• Oversee financial reporting to federal or state agencies, ensuring compliance in all aspects of financial operations.
• Direct personnel actions, including recruiting, hiring, salary determinations, training, and evaluations.
• Provide ongoing financial education for staff and administration.
• Manage and monitor contracts or subcontracts to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Support the achievement of financial goals and performance metrics for the operating unit.
• Identify and resolve operational problems while maintaining a positive customer service attitude.
• Develop improvement processes in accounting, finance, and other departments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Five years of prior work experience in healthcare finance.
• In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting, cost accounting, and healthcare reimbursement methodologies.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills for working with all levels of management and external stakeholders.
• Ability to compose correspondence and prepare detailed operating and financial reports using advanced computer skills and office desktop software.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous supervisory experience.
• Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.
