Associate Director Employee Relations

This role leads a team of Employee Relations (ER) Senior Managers responsible for partnering with HR and business leaders to establish team priorities and develop goals to implement the company’s ER/LR strategy. The focus is to reduce ER/LR risk by investigating and resolving workplace concerns, managing crisis situations, and using data analytics to identify proactive strategies that reduce risk and improve employee engagement.

This role serves as the primary point of contact for retail, services, and logistics relationships across multiple geographies and works with HR and business leaders to identify and mitigate ER/LR risk in advance of organizational change. The position leads both remote and corporate teams, ensuring key priorities of the ER/LR strategy are delivered efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of ER Senior Managers (both remote and corporate).
  • Set clear expectations, hold employees accountable, and provide regular feedback to support performance and career development.
  • Develop and implement an enterprise-wide strategy to reduce ER/LR risk and drive continuous process, policy, and training improvements for sustained employee engagement.
  • Serve as the primary relationship partner with HR, Legal, and business leaders in retail, corporate, services, and logistics across multiple geographies to build market strategies and plans that enhance employee experience while reducing risk.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities for the enterprise.
  • Develop new tools, resources, and programs to improve employee experience and drive engagement for both Field ER/LR and ER Case Management teams.
  • Assist in resolving complex and confidential workplace conflicts by conducting investigations, providing direction, and offering training and leadership coaching.
  • Communicate and coach on maintaining union-free status, act as a second-level responder to union activity, and lead training and communication efforts during organizing campaigns.
  • Serve as the primary on-site contact for the Senior Manager of Employee and Labor Relations during organizing campaigns.

Requirements

  • 10 years of Human Resources Management with an emphasis on employee and labor relations, preferably in a union-free environment.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience, preferably managing a remote workforce.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience leveraging AI tools (e.g., Copilot, Power Automate).

Schedule

Hybrid role requiring on-site work Monday through Thursday at the Best Buy corporate office in Richfield, Minnesota. Fridays may be worked virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location.
