About the role

The Associate Director position sits within the Metals & Mining group of S&P Global Energy. The Metals & Mining group delivers data and research spanning the entire mining value chain—from exploration and mine pipelines through demand and price forecasting.

Responsibilities and impact

  • Partner with peers in S&P Global Energy and S&P Global Market Intelligence to produce cohesive, transparent coverage of pricing, supply and demand outlooks for critical minerals—from assets to downstream demand—addressing multiple client needs and workflows.
  • Lead a team of analysts to build asset-driven cost models for a range of critical minerals, covering both upstream and midstream segments.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise to refine the client user interface.
  • Collaborate with other teams on product and data roadmaps.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers by understanding their needs.
  • Build and sustain strong working relationships across S&P Global’s business to advance shared goals.

Basic qualifications

  • Experience building bottoms-up economic models, preferably within mining or commodities.
  • Proven track record leading people and teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • High technical literacy with delivery toolsets such as Excel, SQL, and Python.
  • Strong commercial mindset with the ability to work across stakeholders and move products from concept to reality.

Preferred qualifications

  • Direct experience in the mining industry, either at a mining company or a financial institution covering the sector.
  • Deep knowledge of metal markets and supply chains.
  • Experience leading product development initiatives.

Compensation

For US candidates, the anticipated base salary range is $125,157 to $174,335. Final base salary is determined by geographic location, experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan; it is not eligible for additional compensation such as sales commissions.
