Key Responsibilities
- Identify and connect faculty across disciplines, schools, and campuses to build high-functioning, cross-disciplinary research teams
- Design and lead convergence workshops, idea labs, and retreats to catalyze new collaborations
- Lead the design and execution of convergence planning and seed grant competitions
- Provide ongoing scientific and strategic mentoring to funded planning and seed grant teams
- Monitor scientific progress and outcomes of funded projects
- Identify strengths, gaps, and opportunities across the convergence portfolio
Required Skills
- PhD or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant field (STEM, social sciences, or related interdisciplinary area)
- 5+ years' work experience in interdisciplinary research or team science
- Strong understanding of the federal research funding landscape (e.g., NIH, NSF, DOE, ARPA-H)
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and collaboration skills
Preferred Experience
- Leading or participating in large, multi-investigator research initiatives
- Experience with internal funding programs or research strategy development
- Familiarity with research development and proposal processes
