Associate Director, Clinical Simulation Lab (A00531)
About the role
The Associate Director of the Clinical Simulation Laboratory provides support for all simulation and clinical learning laboratory experiences in collaboration with faculty and staff to manage and supervise the clinical operations in the School of Nursing Department’s Clinical Simulation Center.
Responsibilities
- Manages daily activities and services of the Bronx Clinical Simulation Lab, including: scheduling and conducting clinical simulations, lab set up, lab breakdown, and management of lab equipment and supplies.
- Supports the planning and utilization of skills & simulation in the Nursing program.
- Ensures that the lab/classroom is clean, safe, and organized; promotes safe lab practices. (i.e.) washing sheets.
- Repairs or coordinates the repair of lab equipment as required.
- Collaborates with faculty to ensure the Center’s experiences meet course objectives; provide oversight during student practice and remediation on technical skills.
- Maintains, coordinates, and monitors open lab sessions.
- Operates the patient simulator during simulation sessions.
- Participates and assesses debriefing sessions with instructors following skill & simulation sessions to ensure best practices
- Researches, evaluates, and recommends new lab materials, equipment, and experiments.
- Implements simulation activities as required.
- Establishes and updates laboratory policies and procedures.
- Assists in preparing reports as needed for nursing learning lab.
- Stay current with developments in the field of simulation technology and learning theories.
- Participates in planning, monitoring, and scheduling for students and faculty by ensuring open and structured lab utilization times are available, communicated, and appropriately resourced.
Requirements
- NYS Registered Nurse License
- Clinical Simulation Certification (CHSOS/CHSE)
- Work experience managing a medical skills learning lab. Recent medical surgical experience.
- Safety standards and practices used in lab/classroom settings.
- Use of Artificial Intelligence in simulation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's of Science Degree from an accredited institution required.
Physical/Other Requirements
- Must be able to push, pull, move or lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to meet all general health requirements for the position as per university policies
