About the role

The Associate Director of Career Management will be responsible for career advising of full-time MBA students, supporting them with self-assessment, career search, and job offer decision-making. This position will maintain a knowledge base of industries hiring MBAs and companies that recruit at the Kellogg School of Management, with a focus on assigned industries. The Associate Director will also teach workshops to enhance students' professional development and ability to manage their career experiences. This is a hybrid position requiring in-office presence three days a week and remote work two days a week, with potential for additional in-person work as needed.

This position reports directly to the Senior Associate Director of Coaching.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise programs and services providing personalized coaching and advising focused on self-assessment, research, job and internship search strategies, reflection, and strategic decision-making, including 1:1 coaching and small group advising.
  • Manage customer service, creating practices, procedures, and metrics to measure success.
  • Maintain knowledge of job market trends and hiring practices, specifically in the Energy, Sustainability, or Social Impact industries.
  • Utilize data to inform program development and allocate resources for students.
  • Partner with CMC employer relations colleagues, internal/external departments, faculty, alumni, and employers to identify career pathways and create outreach plans to engage organizations, resulting in opportunities across a broad range of industries and geographies.
  • Develop and execute strategies to involve internal/external constituents and cultivate alumni relationships.
  • Advise and work closely with student professional clubs aligned to industry focus.
  • Manage and evaluate assigned student-facing projects.
  • Create, deliver, and evaluate workshops.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree.
  • Five years of career coaching in higher education or five years of industry experience; or other relevant experience.
  • Previous experience serving as a career coach, working in career services, and/or recruiting with professional graduate students, alumni, and/or working professionals.
  • Excellent communication skills, strong organizational skills, and a high degree of creativity and initiative.
  • Self-starter, able to work professionally both independently and with others.
  • Self-confidence and the ability to translate ideas into actionable plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Ability to adapt and change with organizational needs.
  • Ability to function effectively in team settings as a leader and contributor.
  • Ability to work with students, employers, and alumni.
  • Ability to work in a complex collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business administration, human resources, higher education, and/or related field.
  • Minimum of seven years of experience working in career services, recruiting, and/or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience focusing on student learning and outcomes assessment.
  • Experience working in or adjacent to Energy, Sustainability, or Social Impact industries.
  • Understanding of the MBA landscape.
  • Familiarity with professional platforms such as LinkedIn and Generative AI tools.
  • Technical proficiency with database systems and Microsoft Office.

Pay

Target hiring range for this position is $96,000 – $103,000 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
