About the role

The Associate Director (AD) provides clinical finance and administration leadership for the Department of Psychiatry, with reporting to the Director of Clinical Administration. This position supports the Vice Chief of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health for Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH) and oversees a $62M annual clinical operation budget.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and implements assigned financial and/or administrative support services for the unit.
  • Affirms the Unit’s operational challenges and opportunities, working to develop and implement solutions with the Director of Clinical Administration and the Senior Director of the Integrated Business Operations (IBO).
  • Serves as a critical conduit for strengthening the interface between unit needs/requirements and service provider activities.
  • Manages budgets, conducts performance reviews, supports new initiatives, and facilitates communication across departments.

Requirements

  • Well-developed managerial, decision-making, planning, organizational, problem-resolution, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication styles and negotiate skillfully to address the needs of individuals at all levels within the University.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage relationships, influence outcomes, and work effectively in a complex organization.
  • Strong financial reporting and quantitative skills, with the ability to create and analyze financial reports, budgets, and forecasts using tools such as Excel and database management systems.
  • Solid understanding of internal control concepts and the implementation of internal control systems in a complex business environment, with the ability to anticipate and manage change proactively.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree and five years of related work experience including demonstrated leadership, project management and/or supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills

  • Demonstrated leadership, project management, and financial experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with managing staff and working with various reporting levels.
  • Proven ability to manage time and resources effectively, measure and monitor progress, and redirect efforts as needed.

Pay

$90,000.00 - $165,750.00
