Associate Director
About the Role
Odyssey Systems is seeking an Associate Director to manage and lead the success of a portfolio of programs within Odyssey's Aviation Business Unit. This individual will execute their respective portfolio in close collaboration with company and customer objectives, overseeing operational management, supervision, administration, and financial functions. The Associate Director will manage Program Managers, Task Leads, and other staff, ensuring high-quality operational performance and maximizing customer satisfaction while emphasizing employee engagement. They will also manage subcontractor relationships and play a critical role in enabling growth and new business development through collaboration with the Business Development team.
Odyssey's Aviation Group supports a wide range of customers, playing a crucial role in coordinating and controlling assets necessary for warfighter mission success. The position manages all aspects of execution (e.g., personnel, contract, and funding/billing) of the Portfolio at Hill AFB, UT, in coordination with Eglin AFB, FL Program office support.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute projects and customer engagements to achieve client objectives, milestones, and program benchmarks.
- Identify task requirements, interdependencies, and key resources for project success; set goals, benchmarks, and objectives with progress milestones.
- Supervise Program Managers and Task Leads to achieve program milestones and portfolio successes.
- Manage subcontractor relationships and engagements when required.
- Continuously measure task performance, reporting progress, risks, issues, problems, and variances from benchmarks.
- Ensure team performance consistently meets or exceeds established customer satisfaction benchmarks.
- Develop and foster solid customer relationships and maintain healthy management relationships through regular meetings (typically biweekly/weekly) with CORs and semiannual or bi-monthly meetings with division leadership.
- Provide feedback and value-added recommendations; communicate effectively with customers and managers to anticipate, identify, and eliminate project deficiencies or issues.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition to attract, recruit, and retain team members who meet or exceed customer requirements and Odyssey's high standards.
- Plan and budget for all resources required to develop, motivate, and reward team members; track costs and compare them to established budgets monthly, conducting variance analyses as required.
- Work with the Contracting Officer Representative and PMs to ensure needed funding is obligated; deliver monthly status reports and vacancy CDRLs, review quarterly and annual surveillance, and assist with other contract deliverables.
- Provide guidance, feedback, and coaching in support of employee development; identify and help satisfy development needs.
- Develop and document personal and professional development goals that support individual, project, and organizational goals.
- Work with the Odyssey Business Development and Proposal team to promote and enable company growth by developing and supporting business development and capturing strategies.
- Develop and document customer profiles and support competitive planning and analysis; participate in Capture and Proposal development and proposal review activities.
- Facilitate company communication and ensure consistent corporate messaging; communicate regularly with the team about program status, customer status, anticipated resource requirements, and business opportunities.
- Relay corporate messaging to customers and sub-contractors as appropriate.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Active Secret-level clearance.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 10 years of comparable experience within mission support at Hill AFB, UT, and Eglin AFB, FL, with a focus on the aviation mission set.
Skills
- Proven senior management experience in the delivery of technical and management services (Program Management and Operations execution).
- Capability to work effectively with a broad range of people with varied technical skills and experience.
- Ability to react quickly in a rapidly changing environment, motivate and manage a team, and support staff.
- Experience managing professional personnel in a defense environment.
- Experience managing contract execution in a defense environment (hours, vacancies, funding, performance, quality).
- Experience managing contract financial execution/tracking/expenditures in a defense environment.
- Experience interfacing regularly with Government clients (Military and Civilian) on all aspects of contract execution.
- Working knowledge/experience in Foreign Military Sales Programs (highly desirable).
- Leadership experience leading portfolios of 100+ employees.
- Strong planning, organizing, directing, and controlling skills.
- Excellent communication skills: writing, speaking, and interpersonal.
- Proven ability to provide timely feedback to employees and create a positive work environment.
- Willingness and experience in building employee trust.
- Proven ability to interface effectively and professionally with Government clients.
Schedule
- Hybrid, with onsite requirements at Odyssey locations and Client Locations near Hill AFB, UT.
- Travel: 10%.
Pay
Final compensation for this position will be determined by various factors such as Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant work experience, specific skills and competencies, geographic location, education, and certifications.
