Key Responsibilities
- Execute components of the patient advocacy strategy aligned with Vor’s mission and business priorities
- Serve as a primary field-based contact for patient advocacy organizations, building strong and trusted relationships
- Conduct regular in-person engagement with patient groups, attending conferences, meetings, and community events
- Gather and translate patient insights into actionable feedback for internal stakeholders
- Support the development and execution of patient-focused initiatives, including advisory boards, listening sessions, and educational programs
- Maintain a deep understanding of the advocacy landscape and identify opportunities for meaningful engagement
Field-Based Relationship Management
- Represent Vor within the patient advocacy community with credibility, empathy, and professionalism
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with regional and national advocacy organizations
- Identify emerging advocacy groups and community leaders relevant to Vor’s therapeutic areas
- Serve as a visible and accessible presence in the field, strengthening Vor’s reputation within the patient community
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with internal teams to ensure patient insights are incorporated into clinical, medical, and commercial strategies
- Collaborate with corporate affairs and communications teams to align messaging and engagement activities
- Provide tactical input and real-world insights from the field to inform internal decision-making
- Support internal education efforts to enhance organizational understanding of patient needs
Compliance & Operational Excellence
- Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and industry standards
- Manage multiple priorities effectively in a dynamic and evolving environment
- Maintain accurate documentation of engagements and insights
Education & Experience Requirements
- 6–10 years of experience in patient advocacy, community engagement, public affairs, or related roles within biotech, pharma, or healthcare
- Demonstrated experience building relationships with patient advocacy organizations; rare disease and/or autoimmune experience preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders
- Experience working cross-functionally in a matrixed environment
- Ability to translate patient insights into meaningful and actionable recommendations
- Self-starter with strong organizational and project management skills
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
Travel & Work Environment
- This is a field-based role with extensive travel requirements (approximately 50–70%)
- Frequent travel is required, including evenings and weekends, to attend patient events, conferences, and community engagements
- Candidates must be comfortable spending significant time in the field and working a flexible schedule aligned to patient community needs
Pay
The salary range for the Associate Director, Patient Advocacy is expected to be between $200,000 and $220,000 per year. Individual pay may vary based on multiple factors including but not limited to relevant job-related skills, experience, education or training, market factors, and work location.
