Associate Designer - Handbags

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Handbag Associate Designer to join our Steve Madden Handbag team.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate fast and efficient proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Email and communicate directly with factories on development and overseas teams to source new materials.
• Attend trade shows, shop retail, and conduct research to ensure designs align with brand trends and target customer preferences.
• Develop product from start to finish, including CAD presentations, print development, and detailed specs.
• Design across categories such as handbags, small leather goods (SLGs), diaper bags, and weekenders.
• Manage your own account and design for a specific customer while maintaining brand integrity.
• Work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and uphold design aesthetic standards.

Requirements

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in CAD software.
• Ability to redesign and adapt designs as needed.
• Collaborate closely with the Design Manager.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 3 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Pay

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $60,000 to $70,000, depending on relevant skillset, training, years of experience, education, and organizational structure.
